About Oscar Osorio

Biography

I’m Oscar Osorio, a Peruvian comic book writer and economist.

I started my creative journey in 2023, crowdfunding two books, A Never-Ending Adventure (Zoop) and Don’t Push the Red Button (Kickstarter), for 14k+ dollars. Peruvian imprint Nullstone Comics published those, plus another anthology titled Tales from the New World and the first issue of a series titled Face Their Fears, which is coming soon to Kickstarter for publication in the US.

I also contributed short stories to Limit Break Comics’ Fractured Realms anthology and Scott Snyder’s Presents: The CloakRoom #3 – Holiday Anthology. In November 2024, I crowdfunded Let Us In, an anthology by non-US creators highlighting foreign creators’ struggles to make comics in the US, the world’s biggest industry.

Artist’s statement

For 2025, I’m committed to continuing to work on self-publishing and pitching to publishers, creating stories that question the status quo, and sharing my identity as a creator, economist, Latin American, nerd, and fan of comic books. As a Latino and an economist turned comic book writer, my stories combine fun and thoughtful themes to show that there are so many people around the world with stories to tell, and the current state of the world is not working in favor of those less fortunate.
